Sell Out! Sell Out! Sell Out!
*There are a lot of genres out there, but I'm going to focus on the really mainstream ones.
Lots of bands around today are getting called sell outs. (ie. Fall Out Boy, Aiden, Green Day, ect.) I'm not here to discuss if these bands are or aren't sell outs.
The thing is while lots of rock bands get called sell outs do pop and rap artist ever get called sell outs? They must but I haven't seen any. Pop artist evolve. Take a look at Justin Timberlake. Future Sex/ Lovesounds is totally different from Justified. Listen to "Sexy Back" then "Cry Me A River." Evolved, for the better. (Not that "Cry Me A River" isn't a good song.) The newer song sounds different, but not so different that you can't tell that it's by the same artist. Like most artist. Think of Green Day's "Holiday" as an updated version of "Welcome To Paradise." (I think I'm safe comparing those two songs.) Green Day gets cries of "Sell out!" every day but did Justin Timberlake ever?
There's not really a point...I'm just wondering if pop artist ever get called sell outs... I've heard Avrl Lavigne get called a sell out though. She's the only one.
